The Cross….

It was said, the cross was a symbol of shame

A criminals punishment to bear

Who would care to consider

The ugliness of sin

Well, this isn’t just a notion

What is socially acceptable is a notion

Social norms are just human idea’s

While, the righteousness of faith in action, is holy, acceptable to God

I looked, past the cross despising its shame

Never again to count your sins against you

The illumination from the father,
devalued, everything they said

Everything they believed
about the cross…..

It was my opportunity to shed abroad this love, his great love

This love, enduring to all generations, races & cultures

Even the functional & dysfunctional

Can you see the beauty
of the cross

Esteeming, loving, caring

What was despised amongst men

This cross, considered as a poor man’s death

Yet, before God the cross shows me I’m valued….
