Exploratory studies Pt1

2Tim 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

When I first came into faith in Christ
I was taught many things out of context relating to the scriptures of the bible. Now I’ve been blessed with insight from the lord the result of a genuine hunger not just to know the truth but to KNOW The Lord better ~ Matt 5:6

I don’t want to get all intellectual but the point I want to make to lay a foundation relating to this word EDUCATE…
In the English dictionary the word means to instruct or to inform…

LATIN… educate means to draw out…
I can understand why there is still a lot of ignorance in the midst of a information age where information is accessible but the real eduction is what we take out of that information we recieve.

Mark Twain Quoted:
“I have never let my schooling interfere with my education”

What we draw out of knowledge is the real education and the context we find for the information…

Let’s look at the bible, a very common and well quoted scripture

Mat 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Before we can applies the scripture we need to consider the context Matt 6:25 onwards as jesus was addressing the whole issue of worrying and being anxious about our daily needs.

So now we can ask the : three most important questions

1) what does the term first mean?

2) what is the kingdom

3) what kind of righteousness is Jesus talking about

Remember kingdom and righteousness are two separate things but are very much connected

The concept of kingdom transcends the idea of constitutional rights as a citizens of Gods kingdom & Gods divine order. The term kingdom relates also to the new life, like the animal or plant kingdom it’s all about the life “the new life in Christ”
Titus 3:5

Righteousness from a new testament stand point is considered as positional or relational first Rom 10:1-4

Geek word for righteousness:dikaiosynē ~

a ) the doctrine concerning the way in which man may attain a state approved of God

b ) integrity, virtue, purity of life, rightness, correctness of thinking feeling, and acting

When we come into the understanding fuelled by the holy spirit some thing amazing begins to happen like a catalyst

The term first is a matter of priority or prioritising placing more importance on the values of God thus being influence by values rather than laws
I’ve been learning to love what is considered as righteous in the sight of God so the sense of obligation isn’t a matter to consider because I’ve decided to love what the father would esteem.
The holy spirit in our lives is here to empower to serve from the heart out of a loving conviction.

In conclusion:
All these things will be added

God is faithful to do as he said.
I guess the problem is scripture is often quoted with little understanding so the practical application becomes contrary to our present disposition.

  1. Brethren Peter, education is fundamentally important, as one of the great proverbs states:
    (Proverb 22:6)
Train a child onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.
As Abraham trained up his children, and those born in his house, in the way of the Lord, in the paths of justice and judgement; which are the ways in which they should go, and which will be to their profit and advantage.
The bibles purpose is to “teach us what is true and make us realize what is wrong in our lives; it straightens us out and helps us do what is right” (2 Timothy 3:16)

    Be blessed my brethren
