Following the example of Jesus!!

Phl 2:5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,

I remember when I was first touched by the love of God through Jesus Christ. My intention was very much set to do what was right according to the examples recorded in the bible especially how Jesus related to God & the people he engaged with daily.

The impression left me so empowered, then the reality hit me knowing not everyone valued the manner or lifestyle of Jesus (Matt 15:1-14) by the way jesus had to develop no different from you or me thinking, reading, reasoning, praying even waiting on revelation from the father!! The deep seated convictions jesus developed kept him in good stead spiritually socially as a well balanced man!! Luke 2:52

Jesus wasn’t ever portrayed as a separatist or a radical more like a teacher of divine truth (John 20:16) far from being apart of a tradition held sacred by a community. Jesus was a world changer not afraid of the knowledge of his day but used it to his advantage to relate to what the common people knew.

When I think about Jesus and his disciples I visually picture him being layed back friendly, engaging, accommodating honest not obnoxious encouraging to bring out the best in others.

Though the scripture Jesus didn’t once speak against the rulers of the day Pilate or caesar. The bible is very clear that jesus was focus on his mission rather than criticising other institutions as it is written all authority is given from above. On his journey he touched many people, races, genders, religious and agnostic, blind and diseased. Mat 8:16

The point that inspired me to write about this was how Jesus communicated spiritual truth…
What does the bible say about how Jesus engaged?
what can we really learn about the effective communication skills Jesus had?

Mat 13:34 Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable.

The point that’s amazing is a parable relates to every one and every one has the opportunity to understand so they can respond…
Imagine if Jesus only quoted scriptures to his audience who do you think he would be appealing to?

That’s right just his own…John 1:11

The apostle paul considered this point when he addressed the issue of speaking in tongues in the midst of unbelievers or the uninformed. Tongues serves its purpose when accompanied with interpretation just like a dream or a vision, what’s the point sharing a vision, dream or speaking in tongue with no interpretation?

In conclusion

How we communicate this massage of the Gospel must be considered… because its a beautiful message but in the hands of radicals it can be dangerous.
People don’t need to see how radical Christians are but how deep our faith convictions that has changed our lives as the fragrance of our convictions remains an aroma for other to experience.

Mat 7:29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law….

Thanks for listening!
