Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.

The curse, cure or another remedy

I had a conversation with some one, about doctrine, to know where would we place doctrine in view our relationship with God & people?

If we lay aside doctrine for a moment, look at the relational side.

Jesus said, come everyone who thirst, simply come John 7:37

He also said “learn of me” Matt 11:29 learning the basis of developing a relationship

Follow me Matt 19:21 follow his example, way of life, our conduct and interaction, especially how we respond to others.

The misconception i recognise amongst believers, when one places doctrine above relationship. I believe that doctrine doesn’t define our faith but guide faith toward relationships with God & towards one another.

Doctrine is the frame work, but doctrine really becomes important when people don’t seem to get the basic’s right.

So doctrine isn’t bad, if kept it in context. As doctrine is the frame work for our faith to grow & living in harmony with each other.

2Ti 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness

So then, doctrine is profitable when used in context, more so when we don’t get the basic right.

  1. I have found the first step to getting basic right is praying in unity, praying in agreement, and praying in one accord. Amen! James

  2. I really liked your statement about how doctrine doesn’t define our faith but guides faith towards God and others. Very well put!
