Jam 2:14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?
Faith is one the most predominate subjects of spirituality & the outward working of what one believes can be considered as the real evidence faith.
However I appreciate different schools of thought about this important subject of faith.
I understand the context of this verse within the over all chapter in James 2:14 onwards.
Faith first is demonstrated vertical then expressed horizontal.
The fruit of our faith should provoke “Action” which is classified as works.
I would like to share something from my journal I wrote about the virtues of the Christian faith
Faith can develop into a virtue recognisable in character from the point of believing God to engaging with people. The greatest challenge of faith comes when one is dealing with internal or personal issues especially when the desire to live right becomes fragile.
So, is faith about application or the partnership between God & mankind?
My mindset has gone beyond faith just being a requirement…
So what is the virtues of faith?
Believing • Trusting • Hoping
Job is a great character who displayed these virtues ~ job 14:14
The bible says : Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him as righteousness Rom 4:3
Sounds like a currency exchange to me.
Did Abraham believe in what God said or did he believe in the person who engaged him?
A great point to consider…
For me its about the person christ who lived demonstrating exceptional qualities through the power of God
So faith isn’t just standing on the word but growing to know the dependable character of him who consistently remains the same. heb 13:8
If you meet some one for the first time would you believe every word they say?
I guess not.
So the scriptures are true, faith comes by hearing not just once or twice but continuously hearing Rom 10:17
The currency of faith is accounted to whosoever believe to receive the virtues of Christ.
So then, virtue remains transferable into currency in term of spiritual or human relationships.
For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ… 2Peter 1:5-8
