So Abram return back to the place of worship at bethel which means “the house of God”
This place was a major landmark for Abram the place where he heard from God for the second time, do you remember where you last hear from God , what was his instruction
After Abraham settles in the land there arises the conflict!
Gen 13:6 The land could not support them while they stayed together, for their possessions were so great that they were not able to stay together.
Gen 13:7 And quarreling arose between Abram’s herdsmen and the herdsmen of Lot. The Canaanites and Perizzites were also living in the land at that time.
Gen 13:8 So Abram said to Lot, “Let’s not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herdsmen and mine, for we are brothers.
Gen 13:12 Abram lived in the land of Canaan, while Lot lived among the cities of the plain and pitched his tents near Sodom.
Abram a man of so much possessions in the midst of conflict appeared so light handed to evaluate the situation knowing the land was enough for every one to share after to allow lot his nephew to chose. I wonder if Abram was so grateful just to be there? was it enough rather than fighting for more control for the land?
What I’m taking from this first of all Abraham said no ~ we are “brethren”
Meaning he respected the relationship.
The second thing, it was all about Abrahams journey not lot…
Little did lot know his choice would set him up for danger…
Going east towards Ai , while Abram dwelt in the west , canaan the place the lord promised to bless him
It’s frighting to know that some relationships can hinder us hearing from God.
Gen 13:14 The LORD said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west.
Gen 13:15 All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring [fn] forever.
In conclusion: The lord says to Abram, take a walk around the land I will give to your descendants, so Abram would conceive the promise in his heart after Abram relocate to a new place called mamre which means strength or fatness, The region known as the plains of Hebron the building block of association with God and his community..
I’m learning that God wants us to enjoy the journey as we grow in character & faith trusting as we receive all the blessings that would accompany us on this amazing walk with the Author and creator of life as we consider the significance of Hebron.
